لقد ساهمت التحولات في البيئة المحلية والعالمية على تنوعها في زيادة الاهتمام بدراسة الإدارة الاستراتيجية، التي تجعل من التخطيط في المستقبل والاستشراف به منهجا للحماية من التغيرات البيئية والمخاطر والصعوبات التي قد تواجهها، حيث تهدف من خلال ذلك إلى تجاوز المشاكل والعراقيل وتوفير الأمن والاستقرار، معتمدة في ذلك على ما يسمى بالتخطيط الاستراتيجي لتغطية عبء جميع النشاطات والأعمال الإدارية في المستقبل.
