تعتبر الدبلوماسية الرياضية حقلا حديثا بدأ يتشكل كجزء من الدبلوماسية العامة، وهي عبارة عن استخدام الرياضة كوسيلة لتحقيق الأهداف السياسية والدبلوماسية، وتعتبر قطر من الدول الرائدة في مجال الدبلوماسية الرياضية، حيث تستخدم الرياضة كوسيلة لتحقيق الأهداف السياسية والدبلوماسية، وتتمثل أهداف الدبلوماسية الرياضية القطرية في تعزيز العلاقات الدولية والتعريف بالثقافة القطرية والترويج للسياحة الرياضية في قطر.
