نروم في هذه الدراسة إلى إلقاء نظرة على فرع مهم من فروع علم الترجمة ألا وهو الترجمة الخاصة، هذا المجال الذي أصبح اليوم مطلباً حيوياً يتصدر المطالب الأخرى؛ ونشاطاً معرفياً لا يمكن الاستغناء عنه أو تجاوزه في هذا العصر، عصر التواصل والاتصالات. وهي من هذا المنظور محرك ثقافي وفكري واقتصادي استدعاه العصر للتعرف على ما لدى الآخرين من علوم وتقنيات ومهارات وتكنولوجيا وتعريف الآخرين بما لدينا. لا سيما عندما يتعلق الأمر بمجال اللغات الخاصة التي تعتبر اليوم المحرك الأساسي لتطور الدول المتقدمة. فعن طريق الترجمة يتم سد حاجيات المجتمعات من المعارف العلمية والتقنية والتكنولوجية، التي تفرزها الساحة العلمية يوميا في كل بقاع العالم.
